WHY EXTENSIONS MAKE A DIFFERENCE

Hair extensions aren't just for adding length,  they're one of the most effective tools for creating bridal hairstyles that look full, lush, and polished from every angle. They give your stylist more to work with, which means more dimension in an updo, more volume in a blowout wave, and a finished result that holds its shape beautifully throughout the day.

Extensions also significantly improve longevity. The additional weight and density help styles stay in place, reducing the chance of pieces falling or losing their shape during the reception. For brides with finer or shorter hair, they can be genuinely transformative — making styles possible that simply wouldn't be achievable on natural hair alone.

If you've seen a bridal look you love and aren't sure your natural hair will achieve it, extensions are almost always the answer. Raise it with us at your trial and we can advise you on what you'll need.

WHERE TO BUY YOUR EXTENSIONS

We recommend investing in quality, human hair clip-in extensions from a reputable brand. Cheap synthetic extensions can look synthetic and are harder to style, blend convincingly and may fail under professional heat styling.

The following brands are ones we have u recommend for bridal use:

When ordering, match the colour as closely as possible to your natural hair. Most brands offer colour swatches or shade-matching tools on their websites — take advantage of these, and when in doubt, order a sample.

GETTING THEM CUT & LABELLED

This is the most important step, and it needs to happen with your regular hairdresser as not all of our stylists are also hairdressers.. Extensions straight out of the packet are a uniform length and won't blend seamlessly with your natural haircut until they've been tailored to match it.

  1. Book an appointment with your hairdresser and bring all of your extension pieces.

  2. Your hairdresser will cut each weft to match your natural layers and shape, so that the blend is invisible when styled.

  3. Each piece should then be labelled (numbered or marked) with a note indicating exactly where it needs to be placed in your hair. For example: "left side, mid-section" or "back, top layer."

  4. Store the labelled pieces in a ziplock bag or small pouch so they arrive at your wedding morning appointment ready to go.

PLEASE NOTE:

Our stylists are not responsible for cutting or adjusting the length of hair extensions, either at trial or on the wedding day. This must be completed by your hairdresser prior to your bridal hair service with Bridal Glow Co unless previously agreed as not all of our stylists are also hairdressers by trade.

It is the client's responsibility to ensure extensions are cut to the correct length and labelled before your appointment. This is what ensures a seamless, beautiful result on the day.

WASHING & PREPPING BEFORE THE DAY

Extensions cannot be styled straight out of the packet. The factory coating on new extensions resists heat and product, which means they won't curl, wave, or hold a style the way they should until they've been properly prepared.

  1. Wash at least twice - using shampoo, working through each weft thoroughly to remove the chemicals used for processing and packing. Follow with conditioner as you would with your natural hair.

  2. Blast-dry them straight - using a hair dryer and a paddle or round brush. The goal is to remove any wave or kink from the factory process so they're smooth and manageable.

  3. Do this at least 2 days before your wedding, not the night before. This gives them time to fully dry, settle and ensures the best possible styling result on the day.

If you have bonds, tape-ins, or wefts already applied to your natural hair, please ensure these are freshly maintained ahead of the day so they're sitting close to the scalp. Grown-out bonds sitting away from the scalp will affect how your style sits and lays.

ON THE MORNING: YOUR CHECKLIST

  1. Extensions are washed, dried straight, and ready to style.

  2. Each piece has been cut to length by your hairdresser.

  3. Each piece is clearly labelled with its placement position.

  4. All pieces are packed together and easy to hand to your stylist.

  5. If you have semi-permanent extensions, bonds/tape are freshly maintained and sitting close to the scalp.
